Why do so many people feel the pressure to keep up with the “Joneses’”? Just because someone in your circle of friends is always buying the next “must” have item or trendy new car, is it worth spending the money to keep up? There is a fine line between setting trends and being sucked into them.

What are you sacrificing today & in the future for that “cool” new thing? One things that I tell my clients is to pay themselves first, through 401 (k) contributions, everyday savings and emergency fund saving, paying yourself first is to build a secure and solid future.

When life hits you with several unexpected expenses back to back and even month over month, that hot new things doesn’t seem like the best use of your resources.

The Jones’ may never intend to retire, so don’t let other people spend your money.
